AT&T is reportedly developing a gaming & anime streaming service

There’s been a recent trend of telecommunications companies getting into content services over the past few years – networks like T-Mobile’s Binge On and Verizon’s Go90 being just two examples.  Now we hear from Variety, that AT&T is working with the Chernin Group to develop their own such network.  The twist?  This one will reportedly focus only on gaming & anime.  According to the Variety report, AT&T will be bringing together various different streaming channels into one subscription service.

According to various sources who are familiar with the plan, the network is said to be incorporating anime sites like Crunchyroll & various others from outside partners, and will either be marketing it as one bundle or (in my hopes), a customizable, a la carte service, along the lines of what Amazon recently did with their video subscription service.

AT&T has been using the internal name “Project X” (how stereotypically geeky, right?)…
